“The sea told me, and I always listen to the sea.” Katsuki leans forward and cups her chin. His breath is hot against her face, unphased by how her story falls apart in front of him. She can hear her grandmother’s lessons, her father’s warnings. She can hear her mother’s last words, and he can’t hear her – the sea is far too loud. “Because when I’m King of the Pirates, I’ll need you by my side.”
