Summary
"She’d told him to go to hell. To anyone else, it would sound like the last thing one friend would tell another, especially in the face of asking for help. But Sherlock was clever, and Mary knew it. What she’d meant was, he would have to go to hell to save John Watson.
Sherlock was already on the threshold of hell. What was one more step?"
Post "The Six Thatchers"--Sherlock confronts John.

Summary
If Sherlock couldn't convince John at Bart's, if he couldn't say goodbye and stay in control then...what could be expected of him at the tarmac? How could he be expected to sell the lie, knowing he would never see John Watson again? Was it really a wonder to anyone he'd not been able to face that moment clear-headed? (Tag for "The Abominable Bride"--be warned that here there be spoilers...)

Summary
The way the black mood feels, when it comes, is hard for him to explain. What it feels like now, on the sofa, is like he’s suspended between the light and the dark, the warmth and cold, with everything being tugged downward. If he moves at all, he might break free, or he might completely submerge. He reckons it's too dangerous to try.
So all he can do is wait: wait for it to pass, or for it to consume him.

Summary
"That he was cold was the first thing Sherlock noticed when he woke. The second was that he was uncomfortable, laying on something solid which dug into his ribs and spine and pressed into his skull. The third was pain. His head throbbed in time with his heart and a sharp ache radiated from his back. The fourth was that he had no idea where he was."
Sherlock lays alone on the rocks and waits for John to save him. Later he learns that even after rescue, his John might be a lot further away than he had anticipated.

Summary
The thing about perceiving everything that meets one of your senses is that your brain never rest. If he closes his eyes to avoid involuntary deductions, he still hears the way a person speaks too fast and then falters or the weird pauses in which he can almost picture the lies taking form.
If both eyes and ears are closed, something is for sure going to tickle his nostrils, maybe the same perfume on two different persons or the strong scents of deodorant or the way Anderson and Donovan too often smell alike.
He can't rest. That's the best and worst thing at the same time. His brain is a machine, it never rests. It is constantly busy deducing important things and less important things, always working whether it's a case or the way someone is limping on the stairs. He can't rest.Bookmarked by boho_writer

Summary
Just then, from a distance they heard an odd rumble and both looked back in the direction it had come from.
"What was that?" John asked. "Lorry backfiring?"
Sherlock's eyes danced as he searched his mind for the answer. The game was on.
"Explosion," he said as the answer reached him. "Come on!"
