In many ways, Luffy is arguably the worst possible person to send on a time travel quest. But maybe all he needs to do to make things better is to Be Luffy, in the right place, in the right time, when someone needs him.
Or; When the Donquixote family leave Mariejois, they run into one Monkey D. Luffy. He leaves a lasting impression on the young Donquixote siblings.
Or; I caved and made a Donquixote pirates fix it. I am not immune to What If Doffy Was Less Fucked Up. Starts from Doflamingo's perspective and and then switches to Vergo's. The fist half of this is time travel fix it and the fallout thereof, second half of this is mainly Vergo and Doffy falling in love as they grow up. (They're obsessed with each other at first sight. The love needs a while to grow.)
