Sometimes Sherlock likes a game of some sort when he comes upstairs, and sometimes he likes to sit quietly in front of the fire and listen to a story. This evening—

“What about a story?” said Sherlock.

Oh my, this was so incredibly lovely and sweet to read. This is the fic equivalent of someone putting a blanket over your shoulders while you curl up next to a crackling fireplace with a mug of hot chocolate in your hands on a blustery winter day. It's so cozy, it's well written, and the illustrations are fantastic.

The writing of this is stunning, like a bluegrass song in story form. The author managed to take a song under four minutes long and turn it into a beguiling, emotional fic with a fantastic ship dynamic, and I adore it. This will be in my head for the rest of eternity every time I hear Devil Went Down To Georgia.

This fic is wholesome as fuck and the definition of a comfort fic. The writing is fantastic, every character is lovely (including the ones that we never saw on the show, Mama is incredible), and it feels like settling right into the time period post-war. The romance is wonderful, the dialogue feels real, and the side character relationships had me grinning so hard. Gonna have to reread this every time I do a BoB re-watch now, it offers so much kindness to these world-weary lads.

An oh-so-needed prequel to the prequel. I’m considering this canon now and adding it to read before New Spring on future WoT rereads, it’s that good. Moiraine and Siuan are gay as hell for each other, there’s White Tower politics abound, and the fish idioms! I adore these two (brilliant) idiots-in-love.

Fics like this are the reason I fell in love with fanfiction in the first place. Long, stunningly-written, well-researched, and incredibly in character despite being an AU. As a history buff with an interest in Jack the Ripper, this fic hit every square on my 'historical fanfic Bingo' with flying colours. God, the dialogue and dynamic was delicious, too. I could eat it with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.
