She finds her solace at the lap pool on the other side of the resort. A few swimmers are making use of the lanes, their heads covered by tight swim caps.
Caitlyn sits on graceful legs on one of the lounge chairs, lying back so she’s stretched out, the kimono falling open to reveal smooth skin. She finds herself distantly comforted by the fact that there doesn’t seem to be anyone else here. Just her, the two swimmers, the ocean waves to the distant right.

Summary
“Cait,” Vi rasped again, and this time Caitlyn looked at her. Really, really looked at her.
Vi’s eyes were bloodshot and wide. Dried blood ran down her nose and she wore a haunted look of panic. The first thought that struck Caitlyn was that something was really wrong.
“I don’t know what’s happening.” Vi cried out the second she finished her sentence, relinquishing her grip on Cait’s wrist to hunch over and clutch at her stomach.
“Violet, what’s wrong? Where does it hurt?”
One of her hands came up to her mouth, clutching at her face as Vi groaned in pain. Caitlyn shuddered. It could’ve just been a trick of the light, but she swore she saw Vi’s spine move beneath the uniform.

“Are you drunk?” Vi couldn’t help the smile on her face. She had never seen the Piltovian drunk before. Caitlyn was always the picture of control and elegance.
Caitlyn laughed into the phone’s speakers and it made Vi’s heart stutter. It always did.
“Perhaps… I did have a bit too much to drink.” Caitlyn slurred and Vi didn’t have to probe further to know that her girlfriend was probably a few more inches away from being wasted.
