“Jon?” he calls out. He hopes he will find him here, back with him, wants to see his face, apologise, but he can’t see him in the sitting room with him.
He barely moves off the couch before the knocking begins.
“Of course.” He says this out loud, smiling and shaking his head. “Of course. Why not? This must be my own personal hell. Trapped in my apartment by Jane Prentiss for the rest of eternity.”Martin is sent back in time after the end of the world, and is determined to save everyone.
He just doesn't know how. -

Desperately, Jon tried not to turn the page, but he found he couldn’t stop himself. He wanted to scream, to call for Martin, to fling the page across the room, but nothing could stop him from following Magnus’s instructions.
“Statement of Jonah Magnus, regarding Jonathan Sims, the Archivist. Statement begins.”
“Sorry, love!” A voice called from the hallway. “I meant to bring my notebook with me, get some writing done outside while the weather’s… nice…”

Summary
Sasha and Martin were in the assistants’ office. Tim had just returned from doing some follow-up with the sibling of a statement-giver, and had immediately retreated to the breakroom, claiming it had been years since he’d last eaten (“You’re always so dramatic, Tim.” “Says the woman who just dragged me through our workplace spouting absolute nonsense.”). Not long after, Martin had left, needing to head up to the library. Sasha was alone in the office, save for Jon, locked in his own office.
That was when she heard the crash.
Basically a scene where Jon and Martin come back in time in the middle of the workday and the Archive workers react. Title from The Mechanisms's Elysian Fields!
