Summary
The first time Michael had eaten an apple, it had been half-rotted, hidden beneath other thrown-out foods that he had taken to rummaging through. He kneeled behind the grocery store, wiping his hands on his pants to get some of the grime off before picking it up. It was dried up, oozing a brownish liquid from one end, but Michael had eaten worse. He swatted a fly away before biting into the mushy fruit.
It was a mix of bitter and sweet, with the small parts that were still edible tasting foreign to him. The rest of it, though, was a familiar, tongue-numbing mush.
But it was food, and so he ate it.

The smirk hadn’t left Isagi’s lips. “Calling me over here with eyes like a lost puppy, when just last night you were practically drooling like a deranged, thirsty mutt.”
Isagi flinched at the loud metallic bang that was Rin’s palm against the lockers, trapping Isagi between himself and the locker. He had to look up to meet Rin’s, now darkened, eyes.
“You want deranged?” Rin's other hand slid up Isagi’s side, causing a chill to run up his spine, but his stare stayed unwavering. “I’ll show you.”
