Curiosity was an arid thing, to a vampire that is. The first few years as undead, everything looks and feels wondrous. As the years go by though, the world loses its colors. What you saw once, you see thousands of times more. That is the unchangeable rule. The premise of vampirehood. Although, there are two widely known exceptions. One is easy to guess. Blood. Blood never gets boring and it always tastes wonderful. The second exception is a bit harder to pinpoint, and many vampires have discussed this topic and reached no clear conclusion. Companionship. Whether it be a mate, a fledgling or simply — a friend. Those things are ever-changing, despite the petrified nature of vampirism. And also, those things are the most sought-after.
That is why Victoria hesitated when she reached for the whimpering girl.
