Summary
Should some cruel higher power—a god or whatnot—decide to make your life any more miserable, it wouldn't take all that much effort. Between the cafe you worked at having to close down, and your (ex) boyfriend deciding things weren't working out and leaving you to fend for yourself in a city you weren't familiar with, you were beginning to think things couldn't get any worse.
For you, adult life was seemingly one disappointment after another. You came to Tokyo because things were supposed to be different here.
Then came the herculean task of finding a job in a city that you knew little about, let alone had friends or family in. Did you want to be applying to various bars in a shady neighborhood in Tokyo? No. Did you have much of a choice? Also no. But you were desperate, and tired of eating pre-packaged ramen.
