Summary
Dorian’s mouth opens and hangs there, brows pulling together. He quiets down too, matching Orym’s tone and leaning closer to ask, “What are you talking about? I’m right here. You could reach out and touch me.”
He says the last few words like a plea. Orym’s heart beats faster in response, feeling himself sliding towards this full speed with no way to stop it. Looking at Dorian on his knees is like getting his first view of a brand new place, a view for miles with nothing as familiar to him as home, filling him with uncertainty and yearning, but fierce protectiveness too. Just one small creature beneath the sky, he wants more than his hands can hold.
(tldr; some growing pains, Dorian rolls a nat 20 on performance, and love in the time of bar fights)

Something shifts in Ashton’s mind, anger and pain mixing and merging until they become rage, become strength that surges through Ashton’s body like lightning and lava combined, an old feeling, familiar and welcome. He dodges the next kick, rolling away and getting to his feet, fists clenched. His vision is still strange, red and blue after images flickering in the corners of his eyes and outlining the asshole who had decided to ruin his day, the asshole who’s still laughing as they take a step toward Ashton. Their movements appear slow, adrenaline no doubt playing with Ashton’s perception of time— except the asshole in question has stopped laughing and is looking down at themself, confused.
