If Silco was the eye of a hurricane, then Vander was the tempest, a creature of brute force, a wrecking ball of a man. And yet, thought Silco with a little smile, despite the sheer impossibility of it all, it was so like his friend to try for silence anyhow—to make a point of it, even if he was doomed to fail.

Colonized by the Moriyamas and made home base for the second son Riko, the small town of Palmetto, Ireland is expanding, cutting into the forest to make room for farmland.
