“You’re late,” Mu Qing greeted. He was leaning against the hood of his shiny new car and scowling disapprovingly at Feng Xin’s steaming coffee cup.
“So are you. You’re supposed to go inside, you know,” Feng Xin returned, moving to walk past.
“I’ve already been inside,” Mu Qing sneered. “We’re supposed to be setting out now."
“At least let me clock in first.”
Mu Qing shrugged. “Take your time. I could probably solve this by myself anyway.”
“Thanks for waiting,” said Feng Xin insincerely, already climbing into the passenger seat. “Let’s go.”
“Who put you in charge?” Mu Qing complained, sliding into the driver’s seat and turning the key. “But for once you’re right. Let’s go.”
They drove in tense silence, Feng Xin shuffling the debrief papers just for something to do.
“Are you gonna read those out?” Mu Qing asked.
“What, didn’t you wait to be briefed?” Feng Xin teased.
“Of course I waited!” Mu Qing yelled. “Don’t read the papers, then! I don’t care!”
“Oh, but since you asked so nicely…”
“No! I don’t want to hear it!”

Satoru examined the options carefully. He pulled at the waistbands and material, testing for stretch; he hand-measured Nobara’s height and tried to calculate how much higher she was planning to grow; he pulled a pair from the rack and announced, “These ones. 100%.”
Nobara looked scandalised. “Those look like they were made in the year 2000.”
“That was a good year!”
“Why are they so skinny? Who dresses like that??”
“I have been known to-“
“And oh my god, there aren’t even any pockets, what’s the point-“
“I think it looks very-“
“It’s so painfully millennial, I can’t even-“
“If you don’t like it, put it back,” Satoru sniffed, handing her the jeans. She immediately shoved them back onto the rack and turned on her heel.
“Let’s leave before you embarrass me any more.”

“Doesn’t this seem a little….unfair?” Asahi ventured, watching Suga frantically scribble the rules down so he wouldn’t forget.
“What? No!” Suga drew a line at the bottom of the page for Hinata to sign along. “He said they weren’t stupid, I said they were, how else are we going to settle this?”
“Don’t worry!” Hinata assured them both, happily writing his name. “’S only for a day, anyway!”
“Ah-ah,” Suga chided. “You’ve signed the paper. Stop talking!”
Hinata clamped a hand over his mouth and bowed his apology. “Swoosh?” he asked, pointing to the paper.
“What are you on about,” said Suga; it wasn’t phrased like a question.
“This is gonna go terribly,” Asahi groaned.

Summary
These were simple tricks, maybe, but effective, making Kakeru whoop too loudly in the silent park. His voice echoed around; Yuki winced, thinking of his parents’ house not far from here, and the neighbours who complained about having a skate park so close. They would hate being woken by teenagers in the dead of night.
Yuki was starting to like Kakeru.
“Fine,” he huffed, when they’d been at this odd kind of practice for an hour. “I’ll teach you a trick.”
Kakeru cheered. “Which one?!”
Yuki grinned, slightly maliciously. “The most difficult one.”
OR: Yuki's a long-time skater wilting under the control & pressure of his parents; his only release is skateboarding alone in his local park once night falls.
Kakeru's a newcomer to skating, struggling through the fallout of losing his family's heirship and taking up skateboarding to keep his mind off it all.Somewhere along the line, they meet in the middle.

Summary
"I love you,” Feng Xin blurted, fiddling with her fingers.
Mu Qing stared harder, narrowing his eyes a little like he was trying to figure out what she was saying. Feng Xin allowed him to scrutinise her, hoping he could see her sincerity or something and praying he didn’t ask a stupid question like ‘why?’.
“Hmm,” said Mu Qing, which sounded an awful lot like the lead-up to a rejection. Feng Xin braced herself as Mu Qing opened his mouth-
“I love you too, bro. Where’d this come from? Are you dying?”

“It is,” Deku agrees, voice muffled from its snug position under Katsuki’s chin. Fingers tighten around the cotton on Katsuki’s back.
“We’re not like that at all.”

AKA Katsuki and Izuku see each other again after a long time and immediately start acting like the crazy best friends they are, the Baku and Deku squads are very, very confused.
