Summary
Lizzie stomps away from their dad as he explains that their mom won’t be back for their birthday. Josie remains frozen in her father’s office. She had been so excited for their birthday for the first time in years, and it seemed like it all got ripped from her at once.
“I’m really sorry, Josie. Your mom wishes she could be here,” her father explains.
Josie nods, “Of course.” Tears fill her eyes and she turns away before her father can see them. She doesn’t want anyone to see her like this. She follows in Lizzie’s footsteps and makes a quick exit from the office, keeping her head down so the other students don’t see her tears.

She is surprised when the squeak of the door followed by the footsteps descending into the dungeons does not reveal a servant carrying her next meal.
Instead, the one who sits on the Iron Throne stands across from Alicent. She had only seen Rhaenyra when the queen had ordered her to the dungeon. Rhaenyra had not been able to look her in the eyes. If Alicent had a dagger at her disposal, she would have repeated her actions from years ago. Only, she would not have wavered in her intent. She does not believe anymore that Rhaenyra is acting in the best interest of her sons. She had forgiven many actions, but she could never find it in herself to forgive Rhaenyra of this.

“You- you can’t do that,” the drowsy warlock protested. Alec frowned when Magnus feebly grabbed his wrists, pushing his arms away.
“Why not?” he asked, and carefully detached himself from Magnus’ grip. “I’m just going to take your shirt off, Magnus. You can’t sleep in it.”
He reached for Magnus once again, but Magnus pullled away.
“No, stop it,” said Magnus, his protests weak but voice firm. He looked at Alec again, brow furrowed. “You can’t. I have a boyfriend.”
