    Summary

The cruelest thing about the Nameless was that they made it so easy to pretend that Sunday belonged. They fed that greedy, stupid, childish thing that cried out from within him, tossing enough scraps of amity for him to piece them together into something that felt like home. The curtains only closed when Sunday lay awake at night and stared at the ceiling of the bedroom that wasn’t really his, and he remembered that it started like this and could only end like this: with him, alone in the dark.

Sunday is found by the Astral Express Crew after fleeing Penacony. He accepts their offer to join, and realizes that

    a. fitting into this tight-knit group is likely impossible
    b. trouble finds the Trailblazers no matter where they go.

or, the chronicle of the Astral Express trying, failing, and trying again to fit Sunday into their family.

    Summary

Cyno sighs. "It could be some time until Gandharva Ville is once again suitable for human habitation," he says. "Even once the Ley Lines are repaired, it will take time for the energies at the site to disperse."

"I have a Vision," Collei says. "I can help."

Cyno shakes his head. "High concentrations of unguided energies are known to be particularly harmful to post-Eleazar individuals. The protection that your Vision offers would be more than canceled out."

Collei folds her hands in her lap. "It's my home."

    "I know," Cyno says.

After Gandharva Ville is attacked, Collei must spend a few weeks living in Alhaitham's house in Sumeru City. It's not what she's used to, but sometimes that's what someone needs to grow.

    Summary

Collei wouldn’t be leaving them gently, peacefully, or kindly. But she could make the after quiet, peaceful, and kind to them, who were so gentle, peaceful, and kind to her. That thought was a great comfort to her.

But now, there is going to be no after. Not if Collei can help it. By some miracle, Collei has gotten herself out of a death sentence and she doesn’t intend on wasting that.

So, now after all of that learning of how to die, now knowing that she isn’t, how do you learn to live?

Collei writes that question down in a brand new notebook at the top of the first page, underlining it twice. Then she stares at the rest of the blank page, the rest of her mind just as empty.

Well. At least knowing to ask the question is a start, isn’t it? Collei closes the notebook, stuffing it into her travel bag to think over later. She has the time to think now, after all.

“If this occurrence is so fleeting, why does it trouble you so deeply to hurt someone who has already hurt you?”

“Because,” Aventurine said, anger sharpening the edges of his words, “He’s eleven, alright? He’s eleven years old and he just wants to see his sister again.” Ratio’s expression flickered, a terrible pitiless sorrow turning his mouth. That it was for him made Aventurine burn with shame. “And anyway, he fucked with my head,” Aventurine finished, rather lamely. “I know my enemy and he wasn’t a child.”

    Summary

Kafka sauntered up to Blade, a smirk on her face that set Sunday on edge. “How was the trip, Bladie?”
Blade huffed. “She followed the script,” he said.
Kafka nodded. “And our newest addition?”
Blade paused. He looked at Sunday briefly. “He talks a lot.”
“Oh, another yapper,” came a bored voice from the back of the room. It was the first Sunday noticed the silver-haired girl staring intently at her handheld console. Her fingers moved at speeds Sunday had yet to see. That is, until her screen flashed and went dark.
The girl cursed under her breath, something Sunday couldn't hear properly but was almost certain was downright grotesque. Then she sighed, looking up as if nothing had happened. “I'm Silver Wolf. I'm sure you and Kafka will get along great.”
Sunday wasn't sure what to make of that, so he simply said, “Thank you?”
Kafka laughed, finally turning to address Sunday directly. “Welcome to the Stellaron Hunters.”

Sunday almost takes Elio's invitation for a joke. Firefly convinces him it isn't. Now he's left trying to piece a new life together with a band of wanted criminals, one shard at a time.
