Sydney doesn’t remember when she started falling for Carmy, just how she doesn't remember exactly when she realised that nothing would ever happen between them. But she does remember realising that the man she loves has found someone else, and that she is, once again, alone. Just as she seems destined to always be.
And so, there’s nothing left for it but to pretend she feels nothing for him and hope the feeling passes.
