“My boyfriend’s missing," Michelle says.
“Really? Did he get lost?”
Someone steps out of Tony’s way. Michelle glares at him—how novel. “No,” she replies.
“Then you’ve filed a missing persons report?”
“Yes, but the police haven’t found anything.”
“Sad. Well, maybe if you give them a bit more time.”
“You and I both know the NYPD isn’t exactly known for being reliable.”
Tony laughs. “So what were you wanting to do next to find him? Is he chipped? Maybe if you offer a cash reward—”
“I’m thinking of involving someone with a little better surveillance of the city than the cops. But since they can be kind of hard to get a hold of, I knew I needed to be a little more forward than usual.”
Tony doesn’t know the last time he was interrupted.
“A superhero, then?”
Michelle speaks through gritted teeth: “That’s not what I said.”

Summary
Hinata Shouyou and Kageyama Tobio are many things to each other—roommates, members of the university’s volleyball club, and long-time friends. It’s a comfortable relationship, even if it’s a little loud or aggressive at times…
But one thing they’re not are boyfriends. Most of the world think they are, if the way they keep turning up at parties together and hang around each other are anything to go by—but they’ve only been pretending for convenience’s sake. There’s nothing like a fake boyfriend to deter unwanted advances and dodge a few social events, after all.
It’s a convenient arrangement, except for the fact that Hinata wishes they were boyfriends in truth. Kageyama’s a volleyball idiot who’s never shown an interest in getting a girlfriend, though, so he’ll have to employ all his wits to ensure they end up together.
The problem with that is, well—Hinata doesn’t have much in the way of wits either. But maybe, just maybe, he won’t need his wits at all to snag himself a real boyfriend.
( or: Hinata overcomplicates things, Kageyama undercomplicates things, and everyone else fights for front-row seats to their dramatic romance )
