Summary
When Halsin had ducked into his tent after returning from his jaunt in the nearby woodland with Wyll, he knew something was different. The air held an unspoken ‘otherness’.
The fact that Astarion was still sprawled out on the blankets fast asleep was a big enough tell that today their adventures would have to be placed on pause. The man laid tangled in seemingly every fabric the tent housed, a hand wrapped tightly in his blanket was tucked up against his face and Halsin could see the small damp spot forming from where the spittle gathered as Astarion held the fabric between his teeth, suckling at it while he rested.
It appears that they would be visited by an eagerly awaited young visitor that day.

Astarion shoved his class so far down deep that it took a few special hands to pry it to the surface. Just when Halsin felt his resolve wavering, his purpose called into question, two fragile souls walked into his life with their shy smiles and their reaching hands. And gods damn him if he wasn't instantly connected to them in so deep a way that it frightened him just a little. As for Gale, well...he'd never exactly considered himself the type to play the role of parent, uncle, caregiver, what have you. But for Tav? Well, for Tav, Gale would give his last breath if he had the option. So what's wiping a few tears and reading a few stories if it means the love of his life is happy and safe?
