Riftan was sure he had time to prepare for his reunion with Maxi after three long years. After all, it was still months away when he was called into yet another pointless campaign. By the time the ship from Nornui docked in the harbor, he would be back home, ready to meet his wife. Imagine his shock when he found out that she had already arrived in Roviden in search of the traces of the elusive dark mages from ages ago.
Regardless of how and why it happened, Riftan absolutely couldn't allow Maxi to travel to the cold, monster-infested North unprotected.
