Summary
When Jayce gets sucked into the wild rune, it spits him out into one of the darkest timelines. In this universe, there's life, and the survivors can think for themselves, but that’s far from a mercy. The Machine Herald rules, but not without feeling. He’s capable of only one prevalent emotion – hate. And there’s no one he despises more than the Defender of Tomorrow.
Jayce, who has no idea who that is or any effective way to protect himself, experiences 6 months of torture where he longs but isn’t permitted to die. However, by some miracle, he finds himself back in a reality like his own, not at the point he’d left it but in the past, right before Jinx steals the Hextech Gemstone.
Jayce must do his best to prevent a future where the Machine Herald takes over by changing history. However, his deteriorating mental state won’t make this easy. Will Jayce be able to save everyone, or is the future already written in stone?

After escaping an alternate universe, the anomaly sends Jayce into the past right before Jinx steals the Hextech Gemstone. It’s now up to him to save the future.

Viktor’s fingers hovered over Jayce’s neck, his mind consumed by a single, chilling thought: He could end him here, right now. Piltover would lose its brightest engineer—a critical blow to their progress. His grip tightened instinctively as he imagined the advantage it would bring.
But the unconscious man remained still, his skin impossibly soft beneath Viktor’s palm, his neck fragile—too fragile.
With a heavy sigh, Viktor released his grip, his hand falling away. He hefted the lifeless body over his shoulder.
Why am I saving him? Viktor questioned, but the answer never came.
