His vision did give him an immune boost, making him more resistant to colds that would take over the city as soon as the weather turned, but he had always been a sickly child. It had driven Crepus mad seeing Kaeya come down with something new every other week until his immune system finally adapted after years of living in the city. The realization took him by surprise, enough so that he stilled in the center of his room staring at the floor where the was a patterned decorational rug that had likely been there longer than he was alive. It wasn’t unexpected, per se, but he thought he’d have more time before it set in fully.

Vash is tough, but he’s not invincible. He makes mistakes, and a fair amount of them, and one day one of those is going to get him killed. Beyond that, hearing Vash say all that self-sacrificial bullshit really pisses Wolfwood off. Of course he’s not going to leave him to it alone.
“Let’s just get it over with,” Wolfwood grumbles, and hefts the Punisher over his shoulder.
They’re handed a pair of sick masks of their own, then led by the female guard through the gates. She takes them to the nearest building, which is in the best shape of the bunch. The inside smells overwhelmingly sterile, like rubbing alcohol and laundry detergent, and the walls are white, the tile floor shiny. It’s exactly like a hospital. She takes them down a corridor and around a corner, then into an office, where a man in a lab coat is seated behind a desk.
“We have two travellers here to get the shot,” the guard says.
The shot. Wolfwood blinks.

Eddie pulled him to his chest. Hugged him tight in the street, in view of any passerbys, because Steve was about to fall apart and there was no other option.
