Summary
Simon forces himself to keep breathing. It’s only suspicious if he makes it so, he tells himself firmly. “What’s wrong?” he teases, doing his best to keep his tone light. “I’m sure you’ve met plenty of my kind.”
“Nothing,” Wilhelm jumps to defend himself. He picks idly at the skin of his fingers and Simon can’t help but notice the ragged flesh around his nails, almost as if this is a common habit for him. “I’ve just never had the best relationship with reporters - or the press.”

“Yeah?” Wille smiles. He kisses his forehead, the tip of his nose, thumbing affectionately at the jut of his jaw. “You’re so pretty, Simon. I love you so much.”
Simon’s head feels like it’s been stuffed full of cotton, his blood roaring in his ears. He’s never been told anything like that before, not even by Wilhelm, and it shocks him down to his bones, a flutter of birds taking flight in his stomach. “I am?”

“No, my lovely brother…” the tone on his last word was strong, he put more pressure on the last syllables. “Stop complaining, you want to sing, and I want you to go on just one date for me. Looks like a good deal to me, no?” he hinted as his eyes widened, Simon looked at his brother’s eyes, which were a copy of his’, feeling like he was looking at a mirror, yet he could tell the difference between his features and his brother’s.
“Okay.” he admitted.

Summary
A flash of Simon’s tear-stricken face streaks across his vision like a bolt of lightning, his voice cracking until I can’t do this anymore were the only words that come from it.
Wilhelm shuts his eyes and cradles him close, as if that’s enough to keep them both away from the monsters under the bed, from everything that’s hurt them in the past. His memories remind him that he had been one of those monsters once; he had hurt them, and the realization makes his breath hitch.
