Summary
A year after Alina takes down the Shadow Fold, she is finally finding peace in her life. The Darkling has worked hard to steer away from his villanous ways; their adoptive daughter, Amelia, is content, and there is no war with Ravka. But all things must end, good and bad. The Sun Summoner learns that a time of peace can become a time of chaos and upheaval with the blink of an eye. She must make sure that the Darkling doesn't revert to his old self, or else all they have built will come tumbling down.
This is a sequel to The True Saint, but can be read separately, and the first five chapters can also be read at the end of that book as well. This is the full version.

A darklina story~How would the story end if the battle between Alina and the Darkling happened differently-if it did not end in the chapel? What would have happened if the Sun Summoner surrendered? Alina Starkov struggles with her feelings towards Aleksander and protecting her country. She is forced into decisions that she did not want to make while at the Grand Palace. The Sun Summoner loses even more control over her life after her marriage to the Darkling. She must find a way to save Aleksander's humanity and countless other innocents.
This story, based on the Shadow and Bone trilogy combined with the Netflix show, starts at the end of Siege and Storm with the battle between the Darkling and the Sun Summoner.

If the Darkling succeeded in making Alina a monster, what would Alina act like under the Darkling's spell. Would she be cold and callous or would she try to fight it—would she try to be good? If you read my other Darklina book "The True Saint", this one is the opposite (although it does not connect with my other book so it can be read separately). Instead of Alina making Aleksander a better man, she becomes a monster. This takes place the night of the Winter Fete and continues until the end of Ruin & Rising. What would happen if Alina did not run that night and instead confronted the Darkling about her new knowledge of the Black Heretic? This book is a retelling of the Grisha trilogy if she had stayed—combining elements of the books and the show.
