Summary
The night is not terrifying at all when you peer through the curtains of twilight. Perhaps it's most powerful sensation is the feeling of the stars emanating from their place amongst the sky as each pinprick of light fights its way through the veil of darkness, refusing to be smothered.
It’s that kind of defiance that keeps him fighting, that makes him feel alive. He was once a man afraid of the night, lost in the blinding brightness of the sun. But all it took was one cloud, one sunless day to make him see that not all is lost in the shadows–that overcast does not ruin a beautiful day. When he saw what the darkness truly was, behind it's mask of intimidation, it was easier to turn into it and abandon the warmth of the sunlight.
That doesn’t mean he doesn’t yet crave the peace of day, but the turbulence of night grants him clairvoyance, letting him see what he was once blind to.
He knows what it will take to open their eyes.
