Summary
Knuckles wanted to protect Sonic.
And of course he did. Sonic’s eyes resembled the Master Emerald in all of its glory— of course they evoked that same feeling of duty in him.
As the time passes, Knuckles wants to do more than just protect Sonic. He wants to know Sonic for everything he is: the ugly and beautiful alike. He’d find beauty in his faults, too.
After all, what’s more ugly than falling in love with your best friend? He could never be as faulted as Knuckles was. Sonic was normal, and Knuckles could only wish to be on the very same nights he spent dreaming of the hedgehog.
Sonic says he has no home— no place where he feels as if he truly belongs— Knuckles wishes to create that place for him.

Tails finally convinced Sonic to go to therapy!
Sonic goes begrudgingly, expecting to do a short bit to satiate Tails wishes and then go back to his usual life.
Oh how very wrong he is.
This mini-series chronicles the entire experience of the painful up-and-down journey of trying to change...for the better. Sonic meets his own internal demons, faces his fears, and just maybe, sees the version of who he is and what he actually thinks of it. Summary
Sonic's not desperate enough to be interested in some pawn of Eggman's. His impending heat may be influencing his moods but certainly not his rational thinking.
He really, seriously isn't interested.
But Shadow obviously has more layers than he lets on and Sonic has never been able to stop himself from trying to help those in need.
They were always bound to clash.

In which one of Tails' solutions is to link Shadow with Sonic to prevent Shadow from obeying Eggman but that goes as well as you'd expect.
Well, at least they get to show Shadow what being a pack is all about.
