Summary
Eddie is used to waking up to an empty bed, but this time there doesn't seem to be any reason for it. That is until he finds Buck working on something new and begins to feel the pieces of his life all slotting into place.

“What’s happening today, Chris?” Eddie asked, casting a quick look to Buck as if to ask whether he’d forgotten anything important, but Buck looked just as confused.
Chris rolled his eyes. “You two are getting married. Duh.”
Parenting prepared you for a lot of situations and Eddie was fairly confident that most of the time he would know instinctively the right thing to say. This was one of those rare occasions that he was completely lost for words.
Buck on the other hand snickered and said, “I don’t remember proposing to you, Eddie. Or being proposed to by you, for that matter.”
“Obviously,” Eddie hissed, finding his voice. “I only agreed to date you two days ago.”

When their friends stage an intervention in the hopes of finally getting Eddie and Buck together, the pair of them decide to give a romantic relationship a try, but things move a lot quicker than anyone could have expected. -

“The laughing gas,” Buck moaned, sounding mortified. “Please don’t tell me I did anything illegal.”
Eddie raised an eyebrow. “Do you usually do illegal things on laughing gas?”
“I stole a dog once,” Buck admitted.
“Ah. Then it’s a good thing I told you that we couldn’t stop to pet every single dog we saw.”

While still under the effects of laughing gas after a trip to the dentist, Buck ends up running his mouth a bit and saying a few things he might have normally kept to himself, much to everyone's amusement and Eddie's delight. -

Buck only hesitated a moment before he said, “I thought I was going to lose you, Eddie. I thought you were going to die. And I… I can’t explain that feeling, like a part of me had just been ripped away and there was no way I could ever get it back. I thought I was going to go the rest of my life without you. God, Eddie, I’ve never felt like that before.”
“That scared?” Eddie guessed.
“No, not even that. More like… ruined.”
Eddie’s breath caught in his throat. The only response he could manage was a pitiful, “Oh.” -
