Summary
Eddie’s throat tightened. He hadn’t expected this—not now, not after the months of careful, delicate work to rebuild their relationship. “Chris, you don’t have to apologize. You had every right to be upset. I messed up, big time.”
“But you didn’t mess up like that,” Chris blurted out.
Eddie froze, completely thrown. “Like what? What do you mean?”
Chris hesitated again, then let out a sigh, as if bracing himself. “Like Buck’s parents. I was just talking to him, and, Dad… they’re awful. Did you know they told him Santa wasn’t real when he was three? Like, straight-up said it to his face! And that’s not even the worst part. They barely cared about Christmas at all, or him. It was Maddie who tried to make it special, and they just ruined it.”// OR // The one that the Buckley parents are so shitty that Chris realizes his dad isn’t actually so bad

Summary
"I ain't wanna take the piss, if you get me, but we are moving incredibly slow," that guy said. The one that had just hopped on and that Bobby had regarded with a sigh and the same I-don't-want-to-deal-with-this-right-now expression that Buck knew all too well from his own experiences.
Buck carefully leaned over to Bobby, awkwardly rubbing his hands up and down his thighs before he whispered, "Cap, who is that guy?"
Bobby looked entirely too tired for any and all explanations but he regarded Buck with a soft look anyway, nodding once. "I think he's God's way of laughing at me."
