As Zhongli stepped closer, Childe’s head raised. His eyes were bloodshot, tear-stained, and he sobbed out, “Please, xiansheng, I’m sorry. I take it back. I don’t want to be a god, not if – I can’t bear this.”
Horror curled tight in Zhongli’s chest. No mortal or archon alive could possibly bear what Childe had been forced to.
