it's my fav tropes against my fav jjk backdrop bc hidden inventory who??? (they came out of it alive) them growing together and going on missions together and becoming teachers together??? wow. hefty read but you won't notice the time passing.

Summary
Suguru stiffens at the sudden approach. He freezes in place, letting the cat get familiar with his presence before even thinking to reach out and touch it. It presses its face up against his leg — it damn near reaches his knee — and nuzzles against the fabric of his sweatpants there. Immediately, the cat’s body goes lax. All the tension in its posture escapes its body and it turns into putty at his feet. The sudden change in attitude leaves Suguru shell shocked and arguably even more nervous.
Suguru looks down at the cat in shock. He is about thirty seconds into getting to know the animal at his feet and the thing is already attached to him.
“Okay,” he breathes out hesitantly. “Okay. You came to me first, so…”
The cat purrs and flips onto its back happily — oh, it’s a boy — while his paws come up to curl near his collar.
Suguru immediately spots the golden collar hanging around its neck. He reaches for it, turning the plate over in his hands until he can read the name.
Satoru.
“Huh,” he says dumbly, the air leaving his lungs. “Kind of an odd name for a cat, right?”
Or, Suguru adopts a cat. He didn't think it'd be his ex-best friend that had been missing for four years.
