Summary
Muses were not meant to fall in love. They did not have to, to play their parts well. They entered into worlds, familiar and foreign, and played out the roles they were given, thrown into tales full of half-truths and beautiful lies. But for Jiang Cheng and Lan Xichen, their stories conflated, gave life to desires unspoken in the world they had come from, painted pictures of the people they could have been, and still wanted to be.
The hope that resonated within them, imbued by the people who wrote them, drew them together like lodestones. Their coming together was inevitable.
And so it was that Jiang Cheng and Lan Xichen fell in love through stories.

Summary
Jiang Cheng loses a bet against Lan Xichen and must wear Lan Xichen's robes as punishment. He does not understand the implications of his actions.
“So, are you happy now? Can I change out of this?” Jiang Cheng tugs at his robes, only for them to hike up from his movements, baring a swathe of tan leg.
Lan Xichen’s voice hitches audibly.
“Yeah,” he says in a gravelly voice, so low that Jiang Cheng is startled. He feels the bed depressing around where his elbows are propped up, and looks up only to see that Lan Xichen has caged him between his arms. “I’m very happy.”
