Summary
“I’m sorry, Megs,” Satoru sounded exhausted as he whispered, his voice barely louder than a breath. “I’m really trying.” He cooed weakly, his voice breaking ever so slightly.
Megumi answered with a small cry, weakened by fatigue and a desperate desire to sleep. His tiny hands clutched at Satoru’s shirt, the fabric damp with a mix of drool and tears.
“What am I doing wrong, kiddo? Please, I wanna be the one to help you, but I don’t know.” His voice was so devastatingly broken and unlike him. “I just don’t know.”
Back in the living room, the others exchanged concerned glances, despite how quiet Satoru tried to be. They could hear the faint murmurs from the bedroom, the soft, broken cadence of Satoru’s voice. It was a stark contrast to the confident tone they were used to.
Satoru adopted Megumi when he was just a baby. One night, Megumi is fussy and can't stop crying. But his friends are there to help him, no matter how much Satoru is convinced he can do it alone.

“What time is it?” Megumi's voice, barely a whisper, broke the stillness of the room.
A low murmur, accompanied by the soft glow of a phone screen, filled the space, “It’s nearing 4 o’clock.” Came the reply, each word laced with a mixture of concern and understanding.
He sighed, burrowing his face deeper into the pillow that was clutched in his arms. He didn’t have enough energy to feel embarrassed about it. “‘M sorry,” He muttered.
A familiar voice grew closer to him, a strong and slim hand coming to rest gently on his messy hair, “There’s nothing to apologize for, Megs.” The voice responded, its soothing tone a bandage to his tired soul.
Megumi can't find the mental strength to get out of bed. His teachers check up on him.

“I don’t care! I don’t care! I don’t CARE!” Megumi’s words erupted like a volcano, his frustration boiling over into tears as he stomped his feet. Satoru was so sad he hadn’t even realized Megumi didn’t want to hear him talk about his death. It was sad and Megumi wanted it to stop.
“I just wanna talk to you about cool stuff! Like, like, Digimon and the cartoons we watch! I wanna talk about my Cursed Technique and going to Jujutsu High! I don’t wanna hear about how he killed you! I don’t care!” His voice cracked with emotion, the weight of his words hanging heavy in the air.
He cried because Satoru wasn’t able to when he should’ve been allowed to.
It wasn’t fair.
“W–What are you talking about? What cool stuff, I–?”
“I just wanna talk to you about Hydreigon, but you won’t listen to me! Just listen to me, stop talking about how you died! Just stop, stop!” He sobbed out, his fingers digging into his palm as he angrily stared up at his shocked guardian.
Megumi gets a new Pokemon card and all he wants to do is show his guardian. But with his death anniversary coming up, Gojo is stuck in the past and can't seem to understand.

Summary
An alternate universe where Suguru Geto never defected after the events of the Hidden Inventory arc. Instead, he left the sorcerer society for 9 years, travelling the world and rediscovering hope with the occasional visit back to Jujutsu Tech.
Now, through a series of one-shots, he's officially back as a teacher, trying to make sense of the place he once called home.
