Liu Qingge was unsure whether the fan, that looked so carefully placed on his table, was a mockery to his loneliness or a promise to salvation. It wasn't there when he left his peak a few days ago.
It was well past dinner time, he wasn’t even sure if Shen Qingqiu was still awake and willing to receive visitors.
He should return the fan tomorrow. Maybe tomorrow he will get a grip on his feelings. Maybe tomorrow the void in his chest will be gone and the coldness in his bones would ebb down and he could find a beast to slay that would make him feel alive even just for a fraction of a moment.

He felt pressure, and tearing, and then it was over as quickly as it started. Luo Binghe let him go and forcefully kicked him, sending them rolling in opposite directions. Liu Qingge’s shoulder screamed as he forced himself upright. The hand of his opposing arm flew up to it.
He felt warm stickiness seeping over his fingers, and the shifting of a ghastly wound. His mouth dropped open in shock as he looked across at Luo Binghe, who for his part seemed just as shocked and appalled at himself as Liu Qingge.
