Max's expression doesn't change when Daniel blurts the words at him.
He answers, “Yeah.”
Then he shrugs.
Like Daniel’s entire world doesn’t tilt on its axis with the movement. Like this information was obvious, or innocuous, and shouldn’t completely blow Daniel’s mind the way it does.
“What the fuck? Since when.”
“Since I was sixteen, obviously, Daniel.”
“I would’ve noticed,” he weakly argues. “There is no way I wouldn’t have noticed.”
Save for last week, never had Daniel’s caregiver instinct ever been set off by or around Max. There is just no way Max could’ve regressed around him. He would’ve noticed.
Daniel can’t be a failure at this, too.
“No one notices,” Max replies, “which is good. I am quiet when I regress.”
“What do you mean, quiet?”
“As in, I do not speak, Daniel.”

It started small.
Little things that Hitoshi picked up on; a pile of blankets left unfolded by the corner of the couch, boxes of chicken strips and nuggets hidden in the very back of the freezer behind all the frozen vegetables, the television being set to a childrens channel. Things that sounded insignificant and they *should* be.
But this was Bakugou we are talking about. And God knows that anything out of the ordinary couldn’t just be ignored so simply.
