Sin alternativa se ve obligado a refugiarse en los carriles de Entrañas en busca en alguien que crea en el más de lo que él dejó de creer en si mismo. Vaya qué lo encuentra, un joven inventor y su mentor apostaran todo por él para ayudar a una ciudad qué se cae a pedazos.
No contaba con enamorarse del joven cientifico con acento encantador y socialmente torpe. Lamento que una enorme lagartija rosada viniera incluida.

Poco a poco la magia salvaje ha retornado en las Islas Hirvientes luego de que Alador Blight lograra deshacerse de los sigilos del emperador que impedían hacer magia libremente.
En una de las visitas de los gemelos a la mansión Blight, Edric desea mostrarle un nuevo hechizo en el que ha estado trabajando a su padre, pero todo sale absolutamente mal y ahora Alador es un niño de 12 años y no tiene recuerdos de su vida adulta.
La peor parte, es que ha escapado y no saben en dónde está.
Sigue al viejo y al actual escuadrón de Hexside en una misión para volver a Alador a la normalidad y descubrir el pasado del que nunca habla.

It's shocking, that in the face of a day so beautiful and bright, he would rather watch the slow spread of Jayce's smile as he examines the peaches a couple trees down.
"You okay?" Jayce's voice startles him.
Not okay, Viktor thinks, but doesn't say. What can he say, really, other than "when you hold that basket of summer peaches and the light becomes ensnared in your eyes I understand why Degas did his pastels. The Impressionists painted light because they were helpless to do anything else in its wake, and every second of every day you make me wish I were an artist so I could sketch the shape of you, if only to feel like I could do something other than just behold the magic of your hands, the smell of summer in your hair, the softness of your eyes. If only to have evidence that I was worthy of its witness, if only as a testimony that I could keep it safe."
