The girl seemed to realize that she'd drawn attention, and her dark brown eyes met his gaze. He smiled at her, trying to project an air of friendliness. She remained tense, but didn't run off as he slowly approached.
The likelihood of the girl knowing Sign was small, so Joey waved at her in greeting... then went ahead and tried.
'Hey, my name's Joey,' he signed slowly. The girl tracked the movements of his hands, but her stare was uncomprehending. He dug out his phone for another try. Her look was curious as he tapped out a message on his text-to-speech program.
He crouched slightly and played out the message he'd typed.
”Hello. My name is Joey. What's your name?“
She was still watching the phone, but didn't react to the sounds at all. Joey studied her. Dirt was caked under her fingernails, and she seemed to be around ten or so, if he had to guess. She needed help.
On the way to pick up some groceries, Joey comes across a young girl. She's dressed in old clothes and entirely uncommunicative. He thinks she might be deaf. He wants to help her. They go to a bodega together.

Summary
Batman: Re-imagined
In this world, Bruce Wayne managed to successfully heal himself through therapy and consequently did not take on the mantle of being Gotham's vigilante. Despite of this, he still managed to adapt four sons: Richard Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, and Damian Wayne--all unbeknownst to him are part of Gotham's most prominent heroes: The Gotham Knights.

Y/n L/n is known throughout the world for his skill, one day he's hired to kill a kid in U.A. as soon as possible by Shigaraki. However, getting into U.A. was harder than getting into Fort Knox which he had broken into 2 years ago with ease. He had to go in as a new student and lure him out that way. It was a big pay load so he could spare wasting some of his time pretending to need help with his quirk.
He soon realizes why Shigaraki wants him dead, this kid was annoying and a cry baby, he quickly realizes that this was going to be an energy draining mission and tries to pretend to like him. It doesn't work and he ends up coming off cold. So L/n decides to take him out somewhere to kill him and it doesn't go well.
Could he really kill Midoriya in this story? Or is it going to be hijacked by the terrible phenomenon of "love in the air"?
Well obviously he's gonna warm up to him
