Summary
Luo Binghe had always wanted to take revenge on his former culinary teacher. However, upon discovering that Shen Jiu had died, Luo Binghe shifted his focus entirely to Shen Yuan, as, in his view, Shen Yuan had always tolerated the abuses committed by his brother and enjoyed the privileges that came with it.
But on Christmas Eve, Luo Binghe is visited by the ghost of Shen Jiu, who tells him that he doesn’t want Luo Binghe to suffer a fate as bad as his own. In this, Luo Binghe receives three ghosts who take him through a journey of his past, present, and future.
Through this experience, Luo Binghe realizes that everything he thought about Shen Yuan was wrong. And that, if he didn't change, he would end up just like Shen Jiu: losing the person who cared for him the most.

It had been five days since Shen Jiu had gotten a proper night of sleep. Some noble had struck a good business deal; to celebrate, he’d rented out the entire Warm Red Pavilion for him and his colleagues. Each night that week, the brothel madam had turned Shen Jiu away with a regretful expression.
“Is there really no one available, Liang-ayi?"
“Well…”
Shen Jiu stiffened at her tone, giving her a suspicious look. “Anyone female?”
Madam Liang huffed, scowling at him. “Jiu-er, I know you’re hesitant about him, but you should give Yuan-er a chance.”
“No.” Shen Jiu crossed his arms, looking away. This wasn’t the first time they’d had this conversation about the Warm Red Pavilion’s singular male courtesan.
“He’s such a sweet boy! I really think the two of you would get along well,” she insisted, reaching up to cup Shen Jiu’s cheek. “You look so tired. Will it really hurt to try? Master Zhao and his friends have no interest in him, so Yuan-er’s been stuck alone in his room this whole time. I think it will do you both some good to keep each other company.”
Shen Jiu sighed. Maybe she was right. It couldn’t hurt to try.
Maybe he'd even make a friend... or something more.

When Luo Binghe finally escaped after years in the Endless Abyss, his first plan was to make his way to Huan Hua Palace, hoping to gain enough power and influence to exact revenge on his old sect.
This plan was ruined, however, when a man who should be long dead dragged him back to Cang Qiong Mountain, where everyone spoke of a nice Shizun who cared for him and missed him.
Luo Binghe knew this to be a lie, as he had no memories of Shen Qingqiu ever being kind to him. He figured he'd get a head start on his revenge while there, but somehow can't bring himself to want to hurt the imposter with the gentle hands.
