    Summary

"He doesn't love me," Caelus cut him off, his grip on the concrete behind him tightening. "He doesn't. He can't."

He could feel Blade go eerily still, as if he were a mechanical puppet that suddenly had its power supply cut off. Just as Caelus is about to speak again, to further jab at the other man's wounds, he watched as Blade's expression shifted. His eyes slowly narrowed, and his snarl twisted into a crooked, unnatural smile. Caelus couldn't help but picture a wolf standing victorious over a slaughtered rabbit.

"He doesn't love you," Blade echoed, his voice hollow and devoid of the perverse elation shown in his expression. "Then that makes us both dead men walking... each chasing the shadows of what our foolish hearts left for us."

    -

Caelus knows Dan Heng could never love him back. Blade knows Dan Feng will never love him again.

Neither of them handle it well.

“Care to explain, gambler?” Ratio finally broke his silence, all but spitting the words. “You agreed to speak with me and let me tend to you during your convalescence, and yet here I find you moments before our agreed-upon time receiving sexual favors from a man wanted ten times over by your own organization while you are supposed to be in hiding. Is this your clever idea of a joke?”

Aventurine shook his head dazedly, choking down a gasp as Boothill’s tongue traced where the gun penetrated him.

“You’re early,” he said with all the authority and coherence he could muster, trying to override the deep shame at being caught in such a flagrant display of debauchery. “I should make you sit there and wait until I’m finished.”

Boothill’s after intel, Aventurine wants some unconventional stress relief, and Ratio isn’t happy that his worst patient has a loaded gun wedged somewhere loaded guns aren’t meant to go…
