Which he did, “It’s good,” he said, “...what meat is this?”
A chuckle escaped Kaveh’s lips, “As long as you can eat it, why wonder?”//
Alhaitham turned into a vampire. He needed to eat.

Summary
The wanderer had been doubtful of the man at first, when Buer issued him his mission. Oh, Hat Guy, go babysit a bunch of mortals and keep an eye out for the Kshahrewar representative, would you?
The last time he interacted with anyone from that school was the Doctor. So pardon the wanderer for not having a favourable opinion of its alumni.
The wanderer and the architect find themselves through each other.

Are you gloating? Are you trying to get me to leave? Kaveh wanted to ask. Do you even care?
But that was the whole point, wasn’t it? That Al-Haitham did care. That was why he found out what he did about Sachin and Kaveh’s father, and it was Kaveh who had to come to terms with the fact that he’d been wrong.
Do you regret staying with me?
Kaveh swallowed. “Even…even that. I do not regret it.”

Summary
Kaveh corners him immediately when he hears Alhaitham coughing. “You have hanahaki??”
Alhaitham says, “Yes, I do.”
“That's it?!” Kaveh huffs. “Aren't you taking this not seriously enough? Who is it for, anyway??”
“It's you, of course,” Alhaitham says, turning the next page of his book.
“WHAT?” Kaveh screeches.
Alhaitham adds, “In fact, I'm coughing up paradiseas, which, according to Nahida, have a truth-inducing effect. I can not tell a lie even if I wanted to, which I don't.”
Kaveh sighs, “So wait, you really like me?”
Alhaitham looks up from his book just to raise an eyebrow, in a Kaveh, are you perhaps stupid? look.
“Were you not listening? I am deeply in love with you.” Alhaitham tsks, closing the cover of his book in annoyance.
“Clearly you are allergic to the truth so I'm coughing it up in your honor.”
Or, Alhaitham is the one with hanahaki and truth pollen exposure but somehow Kaveh is still the one who suffers

Summary
Kaveh realises he loves AlHaitham, and proceeds to try and drop hints to see if the feelings are reciprocated (he’s pretty sure they are).
AlHaitham doesn’t pick up on the hints because they’re specific to Kaveh’s species and AlHaitham is human. Therefore, despite knowing Kaveh isn’t human (though he doesn’t know what, exaclty, Kaveh is), he doesn’t realise what’s happening till Kaveh reaches a breaking point.
They’re both idiots (but work it out in the end!)

Summary
Al-Haitham hums, sitting back in his seat. His eyes get that look they always do when he's thinking– at least that had stayed the same– before he put his hands in his pockets.
“You can stay with me, if you'd like,” he says all too casually as he pulls a hand back out his pocket. “For the time being,” he adds on a little too quickly, “until you manage to get yourself out of the mess you’ve made.”
Kaveh was about to open his mouth to protest. Like he'd ever take an offer from him, especially with that attitude.
But then Al-Haitham slides a key across the table to him–golden, with emerald embellishments, a carbon copy of the soulmark on Kaveh's arm– and the words on his lips dissipate into the warm tavern air.

Summary
“There you go, being quiet again.” Kaveh laughs. It sounds tragic. When Alhaitham doesn’t respond, Kaveh hums as if in thought. “How about I guess? I feel like after all this time… I should be pretty good at reading your mind.”
Alhaitham folds his arms over his chest. The only light is the dull green of their visions and the vague, white moonlight hidden behind the clouds. None of it is enough to see Kaveh in detail, but he can sense that Kaveh has turned and is standing close to him.
“You’re currently thinking this is stupid, and that I’m being ridiculous.”
“Miraculous. A prognostication worthy of an oracle.”
“Shut up. I’m more interested in what’s behind that, though. The things you said when I couldn’t hear you. It was about me, wasn’t it?”
or: alhaitham pines for kaveh, and he's not sure what comes next.
