Kai is living his best life. If his best life included a controlling family that he loved to bits, an alright barista job that definitely doesn't pay him enough for his skills, a law class he despises but has to take because of his parents and being talked into tutoring a new student at university because he's incapable of saying no to people.
Kai's favourite customer shows up one day with an old friend that just moved back to the city. Little did Kai know that Vania's old friend would become such an important person in his life and help him through tough stuff he'd been ignoring for years. Kai tried to fight his attraction to Cole but the tall, handsome man with very big arms that looks like he'd give amazing hugs manages to squeeze his way into Kai's sad, guarded heart.

It doesn't help that Luffy seems to find Zoro especially appetising.

“My silly little swordsman.” Jemaah chuckles as he crouches down next to Zoro. He studies Zoro’s pained expression with an indulging kind of amusement. “You never learn, do you?”
There can’t be anything left, Zoro desperately thinks as he starts to dry-heave.
“You really want to test me today, don’t you?” Jemaah asks. The amusement stays on his face, but the glint of something far less benign starts to glow in his redish purple eyes. It dares him to be difficult.
