There is a cruelty even in Dazai’s kindness, too, and he loathes almost as much as he craves the moments when he has Dazai’s full attention on him and him alone. Had they not had company, Akutagawa would have let himself go a little more, bent head and knee and waited for Dazai to pass his verdict, but the prospect of being undone in front of Dazai’s new pet is nearly enough to make Akutagawa see red. He can’t bring himself to do any more than this, and so he waits, knees aching against the cold, hard floor, and tries not to let the vicious anger coiling deep inside him make itself known.
(Somehow, he gets the feeling Dazai knows all the same.)

Summary
Kaeya catches sight of himself in the full length mirror near his bedside and freezes, turning slowly so he can get a better look at what drew his attention. It’s only barely visible in the lamplight, but when he adjusts the white fabric of his shirt collar he can make out the top edge of a rather startlingly red mark high on his neck, just below the sharp edge of his jaw. While it is, for the most part, hidden by the many layers that constitute Kaeya’s official uniform, someone with a keen eye could have very easily spotted it and accurately identified it for what it was. Kaeya feels the corners of his lips quirking upwards in a wry smile.
Ah. No wonder Lisa had given him a sly look over the top of her book this morning.
