Summary
"Night, Buck.” Eddie whispers into the darkness. He listens to Buck’s breathing even out, feels his own eyelids get heavy. And maybe it's the lingering tequila in his blood, or maybe it’s the exhaustion tearing down all his walls of shoulds and shouldn’ts. Either way, he barely even thinks. He just rolls over and drapes a heavy arm across Buck's waist, like it’s muscle memory. The front of his knees press into the back of Buck's, and his nose brushes against the soft skin of his neck. Buck sighs and practically melts in his arms, and before he knows it, Eddie’s falling asleep faster than he has in years.

“Do you miss it?” Eddie doesn’t think he meant to ask the question, but it’s out there now, hanging in the air between them. Buck just raises an eyebrow, Eddie knowing he means Specify?
“Just… the closeness. Having someone to hold you. Someone to hold onto,” Eddie’s voice sounds far away, his mind having wandered off without him.
“Not sure if you’re aware but we’re basically cuddling right now,” Buck levels at Eddie, a bit incredulous.
“Nah it’s not the same,” Eddie huffs, waving Buck’s puzzled expression away.
Buck hesitates for just long enough that Eddie takes notice, looking back down at him, eyes locking on his.
“It could be,” Buck whispers, snapping his jaw shut like he can’t believe the words actually formed.
