After the battle on the Fold, after Aleksander dies at Alina's hands, he is started awake in his carriage and is surprised to find he's back at the start, the day before he ever met the Sun Summoner. Confused about if this was the afterlife or some fever dream his failing mind came up with in its last moments before death, Aleksander only knows he wants to use this chance to make sure things work out in his favour. So whatever this happens to be, death or Merzost or something else... he will take it, for as long as it lasts.
