Summary
He was nine when his sister died. He was nine when he murdered a demon in blind rage and terror. He was nine when the villagers thought he was crazy. He was nine when he ran away and found shelter in the forest.
No one ever found him. No one showed him the path of the demon slayer. He himself discovered this path and followed it. He was not a member of the Demon Slayer Corps, yet he killed many bloodthirsty monsters. No one knew this person who, in the shadow of darkness itself, killed those demons that the Corps did not know about. All they knew was that he didn't belong to any world. Neither the human world nor the demon world.
He followed his own path, not walked by anyone else. He was different, but that was better for him than forcing himself to fit in with people. He liked being different from others.
His name is Tomioka Giyuu, and he is a wild slayer who doesn't take orders from anyone.

“Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold up.” Mike feels like his brain is going to split open any moment now. He has so many questions, most of them much more pressing than what ends up coming out of his mouth, but he can’t help blurting out, “How come you’re being so nice to him and not to me?”
“Because he isn’t a jackass,” Older Mike retorts. “Oh, fu - I mean, shi - uh. I’m sorry." He looks at eleven-year-old Mike apologetically. "Excuse my language.”
Little Mike giggles. “You can say jackass.”
Older Mike smiles fondly. “Okay.” He turns back to Mike, scowling. “Jackass.”
“Why is he a jackass?” Little Mike pipes up.
“Yeah, why am I a jackass?” Mike asks indignantly. He can't help feeling like he's being ganged up on. By himself, no less.
“Do you want a list?” Older Mike growls.
