Summary
Gotham is just a city. She has no mind, no soul, no body with which to reach out for her children. But in a split-second flash of time, she is as real as a mother clutching her child, only long enough to let him go.
Timothy Drake’s heart stops in the deserts of Iraq, surrounded by the bodies of the only connections to his humanity that he still had. It beats again on the corner of 53rd and Oxford, Gotham City, New Jersey.
Or, Tim's many emotions as he re-learns what it's like to have a home.

“Oracle. This is Batgirl.” She paused.
Robin frowned.
“Come in, Oracle.”
“Perhaps she is momentarily unavailable,” Robin said. Batgirl nodded. Babs could be in the bathroom. Could have stepped into another room for a moment. Gone to get something.
“Batman. Come in, Batman. This is Batgirl.”
Silence.
Robin huffed. “Nightwing. This is Robin requesting immediate assistance.”
Nothing.
“All lines. General call from Hong Kong. We are in the dark. Please respond if you can hear us,” Batgirl said.
Robin frowned at her, and the expression looked less annoyed this time, more worried, more childish.
Batgirl turned off her comm. “Superman,” she said. “Uncle Clark. Can you hear me?”
Robin’s eyes were wide.
They waited.
They waited.
They waited.

Summary
Tim, as it turns out, may not be Jack Drake’s son, but Bruce Wayne’s already got kids he picked out personally. That’s okay though, because Tim’s got a plan for how to deal with this revelation—it’s not like he needs acknowledgement from a second father that doesn’t want him, anyway.

Summary
The wind whips around, rapid, and sharp with sand and grit.
Tim can’t see—there’s so much dust trapped between his eyelids that he can hardly tell if they’re even closed or not. It burns and stings, it fills his lungs, and all he can think about is his body, buried under a new dune of sand, and his family, so many miles away, not even thinking to look for him there. And just as suddenly, the sun and sand and howling winds are gone.
-----
In which the universe takes pity on Tim, just once, if it even was the universe at all.
(My take on the surprisingly common “Tim Drake finds himself in a different universe” trope.) -

The Gamma house is destroyed in a storm at the beginning of the school year and Bradley has to move in with the worst person he knows for the rest of the semester. But it’s only for a few months. He can handle it. Surely.
Bradley’s barely keeping it together, Max sees stars, and neither are none the wiser.
or; oh my god, they were roommates.
