Summary
In which the High Evolutionary not only scarred Rocket for life in every way possible in order to create a perfect species but also implanted a “mind control” chip in Rocket that gets damaged when he gets injured. After a fun mission to a planet Rocket is a little too familiar with, Rocket starts losing control of himself, and the Guardians and Rocket himself must find out what’s going on and save Rocket before it’s too late. (This story most definitely gets better as it goes on.)
Contains insights into Rocket's childhood after leaving the Arete.
This was written out of my desire to explore Rocket’s character more and the relationships the other Guardians have with him.

Summary
“Peter,” Gamora gasped. She looked around and caught sight of the closed door. The ship was flying… away from the disintegrating planet. “Where is he?”
Rocket didn’t look at her. Neither did Nebula, neither did Groot.
“You left him behind!” Gamora screeched. An anger she didn’t know she was capable of burst through any barriers of self-control she had. In one step she roughly grabbed Rocket by the shoulder. “You selfish, pathetic coward! He’s family! He was there, and we could’ve saved him.” Gamora lowered her tone and leaned close, glaring hatefully into his eyes. “You have no part in this family, rodent.”
“You couldn’t have saved him.” was all that Rocket said.
OR
Gamora convinces herself that Rocket is a selfish, unsympathetic coward. But apparent indifference is revealed to be compassion. She realizes that there is much more hurt and heroism inside Rocket than she previously thought.

Summary
Formerly Two Thirds Of A Dream
Making a conscious effort to bury any demons of his past for their sake was something altogether too mushy a thing to tell the rest of the Guardians about. But Rocket's life was practically two thirds of a dream now and he was not going to screw it up. His friends would have wanted him to be happy. To live out the dreams they'd dreamed together in the dimly-lit cages they had called home. Of course the problem with dreams was that sometimes you woke up and found yourself staring down a nightmare.
Or...
The insane lengths Rocket will go to to save his friends from their creator's clutches when they return to his life in the wake of Xandar. It would be a hell of a lot easier if they frickin' remembered him. And a hell of a lot easier if his new friends didn't keep getting in the way.
A Batch 89 Fix-It... sorta
