“The pregnancy, Regulus.”
Regulus thinks someone must have hit him with a confundus charm. He misheard. Has Walburga developed a sense of humour since he last saw her?
“I- no? No, you must be mistaken. I had my last heat months ago, I would have noticed, and I’m on suppressants. I’m not pregnant.”
Walburga is never wrong when it comes to scents, though. She used to be able to smell if Regulus used his parchment or if he borrowed it when writing her a letter, and she would send him to change his clothes whenever he’d borrow something from Sirius’ wardrobe after he ran away.
“Tell that to your scent,” she says it flatly, but then she sees the tears welling in Regulus’ eyes, and her demeanour changes. “We can fix it if you want to.”
“Fix it?”
“There’s a plant for it, but it only works if you use it in the first month or two.”
“What do you mean fix it?” Regulus presses. He doesn’t quite understand how one fixes something that is not broken, let alone a pregnancy.
“To get rid of it.”
