Summary
Kara decided she didn't want to follow Kal's footsteps and instead joined the Marines, where aliens have been accepted for decades, right out of high school. When Kal is attacked by Lex Luthor, she's unable to do anything except continue at her post and hope for the best. She decides not to renew her contract after that, moving to National City to be near her sister but more available in case her cousin needed her again. Using veteran resources to adjust to civilian life and to get a job, she is directed to one she is uniquely suited to - security for Lena Luthor at L-Corp.
Lena has had too many close calls in the years since Lex went on his killing spree in Metropolis and she took over LuthorCorp, now renamed to L-Corp. After two incidents in a short time frame, she finally lets Jess put out a search for someone to be her personal security guard at the office and at work events. She was loathe to have a bodyguard, which was what Jess really wanted and they both compromised with this. When an applicant showed up a couple days later with an impeccable resume, Jess made arrangements for an interview. But Lena wasn't prepared for the woman who showed up.

Summary
"I wasn't going to leave you alone Lena", the blonde responds in a whisper, almost afraid, as if it were obvious, turning to the bed with Lori still secure in steel arms, albeit by now the little girl is already asleep again. Alabaster slender arms reach to grab the girl from her arms.
"I wouldn't have blamed you, after everything…"
"Shh… it's okay, how are you feeling?", Kara interrupts her self-deprecating speech gently, stirring the conversation to less painful topics, that one is something she doesn’t want to address now, if ever.
OR
Kara and Lena meet in high school and become fast friends, but fate has it its way and they have to part ways. When they meet again, more than ten years later, with new scars of life and time, will they finally be able to give themselves a chance at being together?
