Rupert feels a smile tugging at the corners of his lips, finally seeing where Lady Gosling was heading this whole time, and Rupert being Rupert, impulsively jumps at the opportunity he sees laid out before him, “Oh absolutely, Lady Gosling. You are only too right, of course, and the last thing we want is to hurt our chances for the franchise.”
Rupert reaches a hand out to Taggie, and almost in a daze, she delicately places her own hand into his, which he holds up in front of him, his eyes locked onto the very stunned pair staring up at him, and he just can’t help himself; “Isn’t that right, darling?” He murmurs into her knuckles before pressing a soft kiss to them.
Or; Rupert's reputation is a problem for the franchise, the solution? Fake dating Taggie to show he's a changed man.

When Rupert ends up in hospital, there are two options. Either Taggie does as Taggie wants, and helps him recover at Penscombe, or Rupert comes to the Priory, where Declan can keep an eye on them both. Neither option is ideal, but if having Taggie home over Christmas means having Rupert too, then so be it.
If God exists, he is laughing at Declan.
