“I don’t think I’ve ever met a drow properly before,” he says, relinquishing his hand and bowing with a flourish, “It’s a pleasure, Mr. Essek. I’m Molly, but I’m sure you’ve gathered that.”
“The pleasure is all mine,” Essek replies, falling back on his manners even if he’s sure he looks bewildered. Most people from this side of the Ashkeeper Peaks don’t smile like that at the prospect of meeting someone from his folk.

One moment he was curled up on the cold tile floor of the Vergesson Sanatorium, the next Bren was in a strange field of what might have been wheat, flowing in the light breeze.
