So you might ask yourself, why now? What made me write and even send this letter after all? The answer is, as for many things in my life, my son. I was writing to him, and mentioned the stegosaurus thing you told me, about the size of its brain. So I mentioned you, too, and I realized: I want him to meet you. I want my kid to know you. Dios.
So, I decided to tell you that. And that I miss you. Because I do. We only had 5 fucking days together, but they were intense, to me at least.

EddieOR: Just before moving on to LA, Buck meets a soldier headed off to Afghanistan for the third time. The letters they keep exchanging do nothing, really, to make him feel less intensely for this ridiculously handsome man with an even cuter kid. Counting down the days to Eddie's return is a little unbearable, but he can deal with that - until the day his last, desperate letter is returned as undeliverable and his world shatters.

Summary
The blast of the night chill was welcoming when he finally fled out to his patio, shutting the door softly behind him, muting his friends and allowing the sounds of the city to wash over him as he sat down on the rusty patio chair, resting his elbows on his knees and focused his eyes on his shoes.
He should appreciate it more, he knew he should. It was the last time they would all be together before he left for El Paso in the morning. He hummed quietly to himself as he thought of leaving and felt the panic rise in his chest.
Eddie barely registered the sound of the door pushing open before Buck’s soft “Hey,” alerted him to his best friend's presence.

“Buck! Thank god you answered… I called you like 3 times but- Chris don’t eat that! Sorry- uh- we’re trying to recreate your blueberry pancakes for a ‘Breakfast for Dinner’ situation, and uh- can you send over the measurements and stuff you use?”
Buck was standing outside of a club, the music blasting behind him as he tried to watch his best friend through FaceTime, frantically pulling away a plate of scrambled mush from his son and dumping it in the trash.
“Eddie, you cannot be serious right now.”

Eddie moved to El Paso 3 weeks ago and Buck somehow ends up in a club. Buck being the disaster magnet he is, finds himself in trouble again, and now Eddie needs to find out how to help his friend- from 800 miles away.
