    In another timeline, tired of getting nowhere as a wandering salesman on Outworld, Shang Tsung decided to try his luck on Earthrealm instead. Escaping undetected, he began attempting to build himself up in Earthrealm society. It was during these early months that he met Johnny Cage, and—failing to fool him with an attempted scam—was offered a job as a makeup artist and special effects hand. Shang Tsung accepted, and the two have worked together ever since.

    Nowadays Shang Tsung, largely, enjoys his work. He gets to lean into his own artistry, and the job has opened up Earthrealm to him in ways he never thought possible. But some days… some days are harder to handle. Some days, Johnny Cage still manages to get under his skin.
